Preview: Hussey on AFC Wimbledon

3 December 2021

Chris Hussey is looking forward to returning to the club where he started his career in the FA Cup second round on Saturday.

The 32-year-old began his senior career with AFC Wimbledon before being sold to Coventry City for a six figure fee having helped the Wombles to back-to-back promotions in non-league.

Saturday will be his first oppportunity to see and play at the new Cherry Red Records Stadium at Plough Lane and he is looking forward to the opportunity.

"I came through there and I loved my time there. I think I got sold for a substanial amount of money. I grew up not far from there so it's always nice to go back," he said.

"Obviously I've not been to the new place but I think it's changed a lot staff wise and stuff like that.

"I'm excited to go back and hopefully get a good reception and don't get booed. I don't know why I get booed everywhere to be honest! Hopefully we go through and it would be good to play at the new stadium."
