Preview: Chapman on Lincoln City

10 December 2021

Ellis Chapman is looking forward to going head-to-head with the club that gave him his professional debut at just the age of 16 on Saturday when Lincoln City visit the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

The young midfielder burst onto the scene at Lincoln when he was still an under-18s player and was handed his first team debut by former Imps boss Danny Cowley.

He went onto help them achieve promotion to League One and left in the summer of 2020 before linking up with Cheltenham in October of the Robins League Two winning campaign.

Concentration is fully on delivering a performance though as he wants to help the team recover from a disappointing showing in midweek.

"We've got to stick together. We don't come in after games and blame people," he said.

"It is important we sit together and look to the next game. We are tight knit. Everyone has their say and we try and take it on board.

"When the fixtures came out I looked to see when we were playing Lincoln. I'm look forward to seeing a few old faces but if I'm selected I'll be fully concentrating on our team.

"They had a good season last season and got to the play-off final.

"They may have dipped this season in form but will be difficult and we'll give it everything we've got.

"My family will come down to watch the game and they'll be in the Cheltenham end!"
