For the second time in the opening month of the season Cheltenham Town visit Bristol Rovers for a cup fixture this evening (kick-off: 7pm).

Earlier in August it was in the Carabao Cup, whereas this time it's the Papa John's Trophy which sees the two clubs go head-to-head again.

That meeting at the start of the month was just the second match of the season and Cheltenham came out on top with a 2-0 victory.

Now for Tuesday's contest in the first Papa John's Trophy group fixture of the season, there will be plenty of changes to both team's for the first of three group matches.

Team news

The exit of George Lloyd on a season-long loan move to Port Vale rules the academy product out, though Monday arrival Mattie Pollock is available having completed a loan transfer from Watford.

Felix Miles and Joe Hunt (pictured) have been recalled from their work experience spells at Evesham United, as is the case with Will Taylor who was under agreement with a similar period at Cirencester Town.

Opposition

Bristol Rovers picked up their first draw of the season on Saturday with a point from a 1-1 stalemate in Cumbria at Barrow.

They'll no doubt, like Cheltenham, use this first Southern Section Group E clash as a chance to make some changes with the likes of Alfie Kilgour, Sion Spence and former Robins loanee Cian Harries contenders to feature alongside some of the others in Joey Barton's set-up who have been featuring in League Two so far.

After facing Cheltenham, Rovers take on Chelsea under-21s in mid-October and end their group campaign with a visit to Exeter City in November.

Tuesday's oppositions best performance in the competition came in the 1989/90 and 2006/07 campaigns where they reached the final only to finish as runners up to Tranmere Rovers and Doncaster Rovers.

Elsewhere in the group

Fellow Southern Section Group E counterparts Exeter City and Chelsea under-21s have already played their first fixture.

Played last week, it ended as a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes, and as is the rule with the competition it headed straight for a penalty shootout which saw Chelsea triumph 4-3 on spot kicks.

Ticket prices for the match are £16 for adults and £6 for under-16s.
