30 April 2021

First year professional Grant Horton has extended his stay at Cheltenham Town until the summer of 2023 by agreeing a new two-year contract.

The central defender has impressed in his first campaign as a full time player in the senior squad at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

Having joined the club's academy at the age of nine the 19-year-old has progressed through the ranks at the club and will now be offered even more of an opportunity to develop the early stage of his career having penned a new deal.

He spent part of this season on loan at National League South side Bath City and already has gained plenty of senior experience previously from loan spells at Worcester City, Bromsgrove Sporting, Yate Town and Chippenham Town.

In December 2019 he made his first team debut while still a scholar in a 3-0 away win at Mansfield Town.

This season he's made three appearances - coming on as a substitute in the crucial 1-0 away win at Cambridge United - while also featuring in two Papa John's Trophy fixtures. All three matches he participated in saw the team keep a clean sheet.
