Preview: Smith on Colchester United

23 April 2021

Sam Smith says Cheltenham Town are aware that Saturday's opposition Colchester United have a number of good individuals in their squad they'll have to watch out for this weekend.

The forward, who is on loan from Championship side Reading, returned to the starting XI for Tuesday's win at Stevenage and played a role in the winning goal, pushing the ball into the path of Conor Thomas to deliver the ball that Smith's strike partner George Lloyd scored from.

Smith is expecting a good game with a huge amount to play for. Cheltenham are desperate to secure an automatic promotion place, while Colchester still need the points required to ensure they'll be playing League Two football next season despite picking up a much needed victory over Southend United in midweek.
