Cheltenham Town clinched promotion to League One for the third time in the club's history on Tuesday night with a 1-1 home draw against Carlisle United.

The Robins will play in the third tier of English football for the first time since 2009 during the 2021/22 season after a Chris Hussey free kick was enough to get the point required to guarantee an automatic promotion place.

It's the first time the club have earned an automatic promotion in the Football League having previously gone up via the play-offs.

Alan Franklin was in position at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium to capture the game, and the celebrations. You can check out the gallery of images above at the top of the page.

Now the quest is to try and win the league title. That begins with the final away fixture of the season at play-off hunting Newport County AFC on Saturday.

Kick-off in South Wales is at 3pm and you can watch the game live by buying a match pass on iFollow.
