Under-18s: Haynes on tonight's FA Youth Cup first round

2 November 2020

Pete Haynes is expecting a competitive affair this evening when his Cheltenham Town under-18s side host Tuffley Rovers in the FA Youth Cup first round proper.

It is his young side's first outing in the competition this season after a memorable campaign last year saw the under-18s take Arsenal all the way to penalty kicks in the third round.

Haynes and his staff have had tonight's opposition watched and is expecting them to be "right at it" from the moment go.

"It will be a great game," he said. "It's always a great test to play someone you don't normally play.

"In some of the other FA Youth Cup rounds teams are playing somebody who they play in their league.

"It's a great opportunity for us to play a non-league team who will be right at it. They'll be really competitive and we're looking forward to that challenge that will be presented by them."
