Horton heads out on loan

Grant Horton has today signed for National League South side Bath City on loan.

The 19-year-old defender has agreed terms on a move to Twerton Park initially until 9 January.

It will be the academy graduates fifth loan spell away from the club having previously spent time at Worcester City during the 2018/19 season, and then at Bromsgrove Sporting, Yate Town and Chippenham Town in the 2019/20 campaign.

Hereford based Horton links up with a Bath side who are managed by former Robins favourite Jerry Gill.

Last season the Romans reached the National League South play-offs and Cheltenham defender Dan Bowry was a regular pick in their squad having spent much of the season loan there from the Robins.

Horton is currently experiencing his first season as a full professional having been rewarded with a contract at the end of last season having impressed in the under-18s set-up.

He has made two first team appearances this campaign, both in the Papa John's Trophy, while he made his Football League debut as a second year scholar in December 2019 as a late substitute in a 3-0 win over Mansfield Town.

His loan transfer sees him join fellow first year professional Tom Chamberlain in gaining loan experience elsewhere with Chamberlain currently on loan at Southern Premier Central outfit Alvechurch.
