Champions Weekend preview

1 May 2020

This weekend sees us celebrate Champions Weekend at Cheltenham Town and three major title victories in the history of the club.

With the 35th anniversary of the Robins Southern League title win taking place on Monday, over the weekend take a special look back at three standout championship victories from the club's 1984/85, 1998/99 and 2015/16 seasons.

To start the weekend off, the Gloucestershire Echo's Cheltenham Town reporter Jon Palmer has been previewing all three successes in our Preview you can check out above on iFollow.

On Saturday we'll be looking back at the 2016 National League title victory. You'll be able to read and then in the afternoon watch a special group Zoom call with Dan Holman, Kyle Storer, Danny Wright and Daniel Parslow as they look back on their memories from that promotion campaign finishing top of the fifth tier.

Then on Sunday it's a day looking at the memories of the famous 1999 promotion to the Football League for the first time in the club's history. Michael Duff, Keith Knight and Dave Norton will be getting together online to review that achievement under the management of Steve Cotterill.

Finally on Monday on the 35th anniversary of the 1985 Southern League title win join then manager John Murphy plus players Paul Collicutt and Mark Boyland as they look back together at gaining promotion to a national division for the first time. You'll be able to read some of their stories from that campaign too.
