Vote for your Autovillage Player of the Month

3 March 2020

Cheltenham fans can now vote for their February Autovillage Player of the Month after the Robins registered an impressive six wins from seven matches.

Moving just one point off the top three with an impressive 2-0 triumph at fellow promotion chasers Colchester United on Saturday, Michael Duff's side concluded the month with five consecutive League Two victories.

Every month this season supporters will get to choose their top performer from a selected shortlist, with the award kindly sponsored by our freinds at Autovillage.

February's candidiates are:

  • Alfie May
  • Reuben Reid
  • Ryan Broom
  • Chris Hussey

January Player of the Month Alfie May continued his fine form to finish February with six goals in 11 appearances since joining the club at the start of 2020.

The former Doncaster Rovers striker netted three times in victories over Morecambe, Leyton Orient and Colchester with his tireless workrate and pace key at the front end of the pitch.

Fellow forward Reuben Reid endured his most prolific spell in the team with three goals scored in successive games, despite only starting once in that period.

Reid met Chris Hussey's teasing free-kick at Carlisle United to give the Robins a first Football League victory at the home of the Cumbrians.

The 31-year-old then scored in back to back matches by heading home Ryan Broom's pin-point cross to hand the Robins a last gasp 2-1 win against Leyton Orient at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

Reid was then set up by Broom again in an almost carbon copy of the matchwinner against Orient, rising highest to power home the only goal of the game against Mansfield Town one week later.

The man who set those goals up, Welshman Broom also shone in February with those assists alongside an eighth goal of the season from outside the box against Northampton Town.

Playing centrally and on the right hand side, Broom's versatility was key once more in a run of games that saw the Robins amass 18 points from a possible 21.

The club's leading assist maker, left-wing-back Hussey was part of a defence that only conceded on four occassions and remains the best in the division in terms of keeping the ball out of the back of the net.

Hussey also scored a wonderful free-kick at Colchester to cap off the 2-0 victory and a great month for the 31-year-old.

You can vote for your Autovillage Player of the Month in our Twitter poll or by commenting your choice on Facebook and the winner will be revealed later in the week.

Tickets are on sale for the first game of March as play-off chasing Port Vale make their second visit to the Jonny-Rocks Stadium this season, buy your tickets here.
