A superb first half penalty and a number of other important stops saw goalkeeper Owen Evans come out of Thursday night's League Two play-off semi-final first leg earning plenty of plaudits.

The on loan shot-stopper kept out Ryan Watson's first half spot kick with a strong right hand, and then produced some further fine saves throughout the evening to ensure it is still only 27 goals that the team have conceded in League Two competition this season.

Welshman Evans was pleased with the result at the PTS Academy Stadium but was keen to reiterate it's only halfway in the tie with a huge amount still to do against a talented Northampton outfit.

"This is what we came here to do. We came here to put a good performance in and to try and take that momentum into the home leg," he said.

"The first thing we said when we got in the changing rooms is that it's only halfway done.

"If we want to push for that promotion we know we've got to do the same thing again Monday.

"We can't drop off at any point and we will prepare ready for Monday."
