Long: Everyone is looking forward to trying to finish what we started

10 June 2020

Having had to wait patiently to get the thumbs up that the League Two play-offs would be taking place, Seàn Long says the whole squad are looking forward to the challenge that is now ahead.

The Robins will take on Northampton Town in a two-legged semi-final to see which team will progress to the play-off final at Wembley at the end of the month to take on either Exeter City or Colchester United.

Long already has experience of playing under the arch, promotions and a play-off campaign, and has revealed the team are excited by what is to come in the next three weeks.

"From just speaking to the lads and being back in everyone is looking forward to it," he said.

"We all seem in a good headspace going into these games and everyone is looking forward to trying to finish what we started this year."

Northampton will offer a bruising test and Long's well aware of the challenge Keith Curle's side will pose.

"I think back to the two games that we played they were very tough games," he added.

"I think we drew at their place and Reg (Luke Varney) nicked a winner for us when we played them at home.

"They're a good side, they have good experience, good players. We have an idea of what way we think they'll play and they'll obviously have an idea of what way we play so it's going to be a really tough test but we're all looking forward to it."
