Club update: ticketing 2019/20

10 June 2020

The cessation of the 2019/20 season has resulted in an incredibly challenging time for the club from a financial perspective.

In the early days of the lockdown we were forced into postponing several key events including the cricket festival and our corporate five-a-side competition.

We also lost out on the essential ticketing and commercial revenue from our remaining five games, plus a lucrative play-off campaign.

The Board have continued to monitor the situation closely, meeting each week to generate short, medium and long-term cashflow forecasts for all eventualities.

Our aim remains as always to be competitive both on and off the pitch in the years to come.

For now we're able to continue but our cash reserves will begin to be exhausted in the coming months, which is a major concern.

But we're not alone, and these are difficult times for everyone in our community.

You have played a huge in part in our success this season on the pitch, and now we're asking you to play a vital role away from it.

We're now asking fans to consider donating the outstanding balance of their season tickets back to the club to support our operational costs.

We also kindly request that supporters waive their refunds for the tickets purchased for the away matches at Cambridge United, Macclesfield Town and Forest Green Rovers (the money was not passed to our opponents and remains with the club).

However we fully understand that is simply not possible for others and we invite purchasers to get in touch with the club at tickets@ctfc.com by Friday, June 26 at the latest to request a full refund, which we will honour.

We don't ask this lightly. We know how challenging it is for everyone right now. We also know that we have to work even harder than before to repay your loyalty.

We have a new perspective. We will have to change the way we do certain things and make improvements across the board, like everyone else. But the team is fighting back and together, we will emerge from this a stronger club.

Live Q&A tomorrow evening

Following the success of our recent live Q&A using Zoom, the video conferencing tool, we will host a special event tomorrow night (Thursday) with Clive Gowing, our Financial Director and Commercial Director Paul Bence, starting at 7.30pm.

It's an opportunity for supporters to join us and ask their questions directly to the club. If you'd like to join the session to ask yours, email richard.joyce@ctfc.com and ensure you're available between 7.30pm and 8.30pm tomorrow evening.

From this point onwards we intend to continue hosting these live sessions on a monthly basis, bringing together the management team and supporters as we continue to respond to the current situation.

Our summer plans include a virtual open day towards the end of July, and opportunities to bring younger fans closer to the club than ever before through events and experiences. We want to say 'thank you' and we invite supporters to share their ideas and suggestions as we work together during the pandemic.

These are unprecedented times, and this is an extraordinary ask. We hope you see it in the spirit in which it is made.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow. Thanks for your continued support.
