2019/20 season review: September

7 July 2020

September was a huge month in Cheltenham Town's 2019/20 League Two season.

Michael Duff's side faced six matches in all competitions. Beginning with a Leasing.com Trophy defeat at Exeter City with a young side that included Archie Brennan and scholar Tom Chamberlain in the starting XI, the team then went onto enjoy a fine month in the league.

A 4-2 home win over Stevenage was followed up by a much needed 2-0 away success at newly promoted Salford City in the club's first ever trip to the Peninsula Stadium. It was the win away from home the team needed having struggled for form on the road, even in the previous 2018/19 campaign.

A late midweek 3-2 home win over Bradford City was then followed up by an excellent 2-0 win at Plymouth Argyle. The month ended with a 1-1 home draw against a solid Crewe Alexandra outfit.

Watch above as Michael Duff looks back on September for his team as his charges collected 13 points from a possible 15 available.

It was also a month of awards for both Duff and young loan defender Jacob Greaves. Duff scooped the Manager of the Month award for his team's performances, while Greaves, who had only just turned 19, was named Young Player of the Month for all three EFL divisions.
