2019/20 season review: January

15 July 2020

Look back on the month of January in Cheltenham Town's 2019/20 campaign in what proved to be a busy period both on and off the pitch.

The New Year brought in a short trip across the Severn Bridge to Rodney Parade to take on Newport County, and after a late 1-1 draw in south Wales there were back-to-back home victories over Oldham Athletic and Walsall.

A narrow defeat on the road at Crewe denied the team what would have been a useful point against an Alexandra side who gained promotion to League One automatically at the end of the season.

Another away trip saw a midweek visit to Bradford City. Alfie May's late leveller earned a point against the Bantams to complete a month that also saw May arrive on a permanent transfer from Doncaster Rovers, and goalkeeper Owen Evans and Tom Nichols arrive on loan from Wigan Athletic and Bristol Rovers.

Watch manager Michael Duff's thoughts on the first month of 2020 above.
