Though pleased to see his side pick up another three points, Cheltenham Town boss Michael Duff felt his team were fortunate to walk away with a win against Morecambe.

First half goals from Conor Thomas, who struck with a penalty, and Alfie May gave his side a 2-0 lead at half time.

However Morecambe hit back in the second period and enjoyed several spells of pressure.

Former Crewe Alexandra hit man AJ Leitch-Smith came off the bench to halve the deficit in the final ten minutes of normal time, while he also hit the crossbar with an acrobatic attempt, as the Shrimps staged a dangerous comeback.

"I think it is fair to say we got away with one there," Duff said.

"I thought for the first two or three minutes we started well and then we just got lulled in.

"It's difficult sometimes because the crowd are expecting us to win because they'll just look at the league table and go 'you should win that'. Football is not quite that simple.

"Derek (Adams) has got them organised and hard working.

"I didn't think we deserved to be 2-0 up at half time. They'll feel hard done by there.

"But we were excellent on Tuesday night and I thought we should have won the game. We've had quite a few draws at home in the last couple of months where I think we've dominated games and not quite been able to go on and score that extra goal. Maybe it's owed us one there - it's paid us back a little bit."
