Experienced midfielder Liam Sercombe has today been confirmed as Cheltenham Town's latest signing ahead of the 2020/21 season.

The 30-year-old moves to the Jonny-Rocks Stadium on a one-year contract after departing League One side Bristol Rovers in June.

A three-time promotion winner, including twice out of League Two, Bristol born Sercombe has already amassed close to 500 career appearances and has been a key player for all three clubs he has represented throughout his career.

He broke through the youth ranks at Exeter City as a teenager, and helped the Grecians regain promotion to the Football League in 2008 before going onto help them claim another promotion when they progressed into League One 12 months later.

Having made over 260 appearances at St James Park he transferred to Oxford United. In his first campaign at the Kassam Stadium he helped his new club clinch promotion to League One and scored a stunning 17 goals from midfield.

After two seasons at Oxford, and two EFL Trophy final appearances at Wembley, he returned to his home city of Bristol to sign for Bristol Rovers in the summer of 2017 for an undisclosed six-figure free.

In the previous three campaigns he's been a mainstay in the Pirates midfield, achieving over 125 appearances, only to see his time at the Memorial Stadium come to an end just over a month ago.

Commenting on his arrival at Cheltenham Sercombe said: "I'm very happy. To get it done before pre-season you want to get off to a good start with the boys which is a big positive.

"We want to go for a promotion push this season. It's a club that can go to League One and that's what I'm aiming for. When I came and met the manager that's what he wants as well."

His player sponsorship is now available for the upcoming season. Contact luke.saunders@ctfc.com via email to enquire into his availability.

Existing season ticket holders are also reminded that they have until 5pm this Friday to renew their season tickets online, or in person at the ticket office between 1pm and 5pm each weekday.
