Left sided defender Lewis Freestone has today been confirmed as Cheltenham Town's latest signing ahead of the 2020/21 season.
The 20-year-old moves to the Jonny-Rocks Stadium having been a part of the under-23s set-up at Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion last season.
Despite still being very early on in his playing career, Kings Lynn born Freestone already has League One experience on his CV having come through the youth system at Peterborough United.
He made his Peterborough debut as a 17-year-old under the guidance of then Posh manager and former Cheltenham midfield favourite Grant McCann.
In total he appeared eight times in League One as a teenager for the London Road Stadium side but has also gathered additional playing experience from loan spells in non-league football.
He's had temporary spells with the likes of Cambridge City, St Albans City, Guiseley, Nuneaton Borough and Bedford Town.
He spent the recently finished 2019/20 campaign at Brighton as part of their under-23s set-up having signed a one-year deal with the Seagulls in July 2019.
On signing for Cheltenham Freestone said: "I'm buzzing. With covid coming around I've been back home for four or five months. It's frustrating so to hear some good news and to come and play for Cheltenham I'm happy.
"I want to come in and help this team push for the promotion that they deserve. It's a great training facility, the pitches are lovely, the staff are lovely, so it's a great place to come."
Freestone's player sponsorship is now available. Email email@example.com to enquire about being his home or away shirt sponsor.
Season ticket holders from the 2019/20 season are also being reminded that season tickets are now available to renew up to Friday 7 August. You can renew online.
Freestone's arrival is in association with our official signing partners, The Little Jet Company.
