Introducing the 2020/21 first year scholars

28 August 2020

Cheltenham Town have welcomed ten new first year scholars into the club's under-18s programme for the 2020/21 season.

Manager Pete Haynes' side has been boosted by their inclusion and they have linked up with the second years who have progressed after finding themselves in the same position a year ago.

Much like the first team the scholars began training at the start of August as they gear up for their EFL Youth Alliance campaign, with some of the new crop having already featured in first team pre-season friendlies this summer.

Take a look at the new faces who have become a part of the club's scholarship programme:

Archie Woodall

Archie first joined Cheltenham Town as an under-9. He is a central midfielder who featured regularly in the under-18s squad last season in the EFL Alliance and FA Youth Cup. He is based in Worcester.

Brennan Denness-Barrett

Based in London, Brennan linked up with the club as an under-16s player last season. His previous clubs include QPR and Brighton & Hove Albion. He was picked up by the club after time spent playing for Staines Town in their first team set-up. He operates as a wing back or a wide forward.

Charlie Dashfield

Charlie originally joined the Academy set-up as a 13 year old from South Gloucestershire Development Centre. He is based in Bristol and plays as an attacking midfielder.

Connor Jakeways

Worcester based, Connor joined Cheltenham all the way back as an under-9. He can operate both as a central defender and central midfielder and represented the under-18s in the FA Youth Cup and EFL Alliance last season.

Joe Hunt

Predominantly a right back or wing back, Joe is another who featured in the under-18s team last season in both the EFL Alliance and FA Youth Cup. He has been involved with the first team squad already in pre-season and joined Cheltenham as an under-9. He hails from Evesham.

Felix Miles

Another who joined the Cheltenham set-up when he was an under-9, Felix is from Stroud and is a creative midfielder who likes to occupy the number 10 role.

Harvey Skurek

Harvey has been involved with the first team already in pre-season. He's a left back or left wing back who joined the club as an under-9 and is based in Cheltenham.

Josh Aldridge

Josh joined Cheltenham as an under-15s player having left Bristol Rovers. He is from Cheltenham and operates as a central midfielder. Last season he spent time on trial with Tottenham Hotspur.

Zac Guinan

Worcester based Zac joined Cheltenham as an under-9. He is a centre forward who plays as a number nine.

Will Taylor

Will joined the set-up at Cheltenham as an under-15 and is based in Stroud. He is a left sided central defender who can also do a job as a left wing back.

They join current second year scholars Charlie Paterson, Toby Lawrence, George Clark, Liam Atwell, Felix Davis, Callum Ebanks and Dan Stevens in making up the under-18s squad for the 2020/21 season.
