Cheltenham to head to Ashton Gate in pre-season

13 August 2020

Cheltenham Town will make the short trip down the M5 to take on Championship side Bristol City in a behind closed doors pre-season friendly on Friday 21 August.

The game will take place at Ashton Gate with both clubs continuing their preparations for the new 2020/21 EFL campaign.

Last season City finished 12th in the second tier of English football and have seen Dean Holden step up from an assistant role to become their new Head Coach following the departure of Lee Johnson - the son of former Cheltenham boss Gary.

Holden has appointed another former Cheltenham manager as one of his new assistants with Keith Downing having moved away from his role with The Football Association to be part of the set-up in Bristol.

Downing appeared on an episode of The Boot Zoom recently with John Ward - another who has managed both Bristol City and Cheltenham.

Supporters are reminded that any pre-season fixtures involving the club before the new season are all to be played behind closed doors due to the covid-19 pandemic.
