Bonds: It's a really good club to join

21 August 2020

Cheltenham Town’s latest summer arrival Elliot Bonds believes the club is the right fit for him at this stage of his career after joining on a season-long loan from League One side Hull City.

The former Reading and Brentford youth player joins the Robins looking to get his first Football League appearances in the bag after playing for the Tigers Under-23’s and making the first team bench in the Championship last season.

“It’s been a long time coming,” he said. “Straight away I wanted to come here and get a lot of experience.

“With the team doing so well last year getting in the play-offs, obviously we want to recreate that and go a little bit further.

“It’s a good experience and pathway for me in terms of the boys that were here last year so I’m going to try and recreate that by proving myself really.”

Bonds hopes to replicate the success that fellow Hull City teammates Max Sheaf and Jacob Greaves had whilst on loan in Gloucestershire last summer.

“They’ve given me a heads up and said it’s a really good club, I’ve kind of sensed that already from what I’ve seen,” the 20-year-old added.

“It’s a factor that leaned me towards here, the fact they got so many games at a young age, I’m just looking to do the same.”
