Auction launched for NHS with Robins heroes match worn shirts

4 April 2020

An online auction featuring match shirts worn by a number of Cheltenham Town heroes from the past to raise money for the NHS has gone live today.

Fans can get online to club partners AMS Auctions website and bid on the shirts with all money raised from the auction going towards the NHS head shave fundraiser that has already made nearly £3,000 for the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The players, staff and club wanted to show their appreciation for the incredible work NHS staff are doing on the front line right now during the covid-19 pandemic.

You can bid for the shirts online here on the AMS Auctions website, with the deadline for bids being 8pm on Monday evening.

A number of match worn shirts have been donated for the auction:

Neil Grayson - the legendary Robins strikers shirt from the 2000/2002 seasons, some of the first for the club in the Football League

Mark Yates - a match worn shirt from the former promotion winning captain and then manager

Lee Williams - a shirt worn by the midfielder during the club's Division Three promotion winning campaign

Trevor Carson - the goalkeeper top worn by Northern Ireland international goalkeeper Carson in his campaign at CTFC during the 2014/15 season

Brian Wilson - a signed shirt worn by Wilson, who after making over a hundred appearances for the Robins went onto enjoy a career spent with the likes of Bristol City and Colchester United having earned a promotion with Cheltenham

Aden Baldwin signed by the 2018/19 squad - the former Bristol City loanees shirt has been signed by the squad from last season

Scott Brown - a signed match worn top from the former goalkeeper during his second spell at the club in 2017

There is going to be one more shirt added to the auction.

The auction has been made possible thanks to the kind generosity of the club's supporters.

Matt Stanley kickstarted the idea when responding to the players head shave. A lifelong supporter of the club who used to work in the ticket office, Matt's dad was born on Whaddon Road and his sister, Hannah, and mum, Julie, both work as nurses at Cheltenham General Hospital.

He has kindly donated three shirts, while upon agreeing to again kindly host the auction, AMS Auctions Head of Valuation Lee Baldwin has contributed a further three shirts from his own collection. Supporter Martin Shurmer has also kindly donated another shirt.

We thank them all for their brilliant and generous support in helping with the fundraiser.

All of the money made from the auction will be added to the total that's already been made as we look to do everything to help support the NHS in Gloucestershire during this crucial time.

Visit the AMS Auctions website to view the shirts and to make a bid. Bidding closes at 8pm on Monday.
