A clean sheet away from home was a welcome reward alongside the three points for defender Charlie Raglan on Saturday.

The former Oxford United man was part of a Robins backline that kept out Salford City on their own home soil at the Peninsula Stadium.

Ryan Broom's two strikes in either half sealed a much sought after away win, which keeps Cheltenham at the higher end of the League Two table in the early stages of this season, and was a welcome achievement for Raglan and his teammates.

"A clean sheet speaks for itself," Raglan said post-match. "I think we played much better first half and probably deserved the goal.

"Second half we were just really waiting for that moment of quality to top it off and we were on the backfoot at times but when you win 2-0 you can say that we defended well and got that moment of quality that we waited for. We're coming away happy.

"As a group we probably wanted to play better second half. That's probably a theme in the last few games but today we managed to see it out and not give up many chances.

"Even though it probably felt like we were under pressure more than we wanted to be, but we didn't give up many chances and showed that couple of moments of quality that get us a win that's a long time coming and much needed."

The defender will next be in action for the Robins on Tuesday night for the visit of Bradford City to the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

Tickets for that game are available to buy online or on the night from the turnstiles. Kick-off against the Bantams is at 7.45pm.
