Reaction: Doyle-Hayes on Bradford City

18 September 2019

Jake Doyle-Hayes starred once again in a Cheltenham Town shirt and celebrated his first career goal as he helped the Robins to a 3-2 home win over Bradford City on Tuesday night.

The Irish midfielder, who is back with the club after his recent call up to the Republic of Ireland under-21s squad, netted Michael Duff's sides second goal in what was a lively 90 minutes of football under the lights at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

On loan from Aston Villa, Doyle-Hayes was recently voted the Autovillage August Player of the Month by Robins supporters, and he praised his team's showing against the Bantams.

"I thought that was up there with one of the best performances this season we've had," he said.

"I thought we dominated the game, we controlled the ball really well, and scored three goals which is really good.

"Our first half performance was really good. We had a few chances but we pulled through at the end and got the win that is all that matters really."

He celebrated his first career goal in front of the noisy 1887 Red Army for what was a memorable moment for the 20-year-old.

"It's an unbelievable feeling at home in front of the fans as well," he added. "My first goal and it was something to be proud of I suppose.

"I'm really happy that we won as well. It's all about the three points."
