Preview: Duff on Crewe

26 September 2019

Cheltenham Town boss Michael Duff has admitted he's not surprised that this Saturday's opponents are in and around it at the top of the League Two table.

Crewe travel to Gloucestershire this weekend as just one of two teams above the Robins in the table.

David Artell's side have made an excellent start to the season and have taken 21 points from ten games.

They'll be looking to maintain their league position for the entire campaign, but will be tested by a Robins side very much in form themselves and heading into the game on the back of four straight wins.

"Everyone knows the way Crewe want to play," Duff said. "It's alright saying it, doing it and being effective, because you can play backways, sideways, backways, sideways and then whack it from the 'keeper.

"Best home record, best away record - I think we've scored the most goals and they've scored the third most goals, so it's nailed on for a 0-0!

"It should be a good game between two teams that play decent football and can both score. We'll wait and see - we know what we're up against. It's not an accident that they're up there.

"I think we'll have surprised a few people with where we're at, probably ourselves as well.

"Crewe I think just towards the end of last season fell away but they were pushing for the play-offs most of the season. It's not a surprise to people in the league or myself that they're in and around it again."
