Long tied down to new Robins deal

27 September 2019

Seàn Long has extended his stay at Cheltenham Town until June 2021 after agreeing a new one-year contract.

The 24-year-old has been a regular in the current campaign at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium and has been rewarded with a new one-year contract extension.

A summer of 2018 signing from Lincoln City, Long endured a frustrating first campaign at the club, with injury limiting him to only six first team appearances.

However he has been one of the side's most consistent performers this term in his role as a right wing back and he has now committed his future to another two seasons with the Robins.

Commenting on his new deal Long said: "I'm delighted. I love it here. I love playing football and the manager has been great, the staff, and there's a great bunch of lads here as well.

"I had last year to come back from the injury and they gave me the opportunity to play which was brilliant. To come back in pre-season and for the manager to be selecting me every week is another great feeling - I just want to keep it going now."

Manager Michael Duff added: "Seàn is a good pro. You look at the character he showed last year with his injury and the way he got his head down and was always good around the place and was raring to get back playing.

"He's almost been a new signing this season and his performances on the pitch have warranted him getting a new deal."

You can watch Long in action again on Saturday in an exciting second against third encounter at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium as Crewe Alexandra are the visitors. Kick-off is at 3pm and tickets are available to purchase online and at the turnstiles on the day.
