Stanton looking forward to tonight's FA Youth Cup tie

30 October 2019

Cheltenham Town under-18s forward Charlie Stanton wants his side to enjoy the opportunity of playing under the lights at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium this evening in the team's FA Youth Cup first round match with Eastleigh.

The game, which kicks off at 7pm, is Cheltenham's first in the competition this season, as they get set to host an Eastleigh outfit who got past Mangotsfield United in the last round with a late 1-0 win to get to this stage.

"As a second year you want to make it count as last year we didn't do too well," Stanton said ahead of tonight's contest.

"It's good to get a different type of tie in Eastleigh, last year we had Forest Green, so we've got to out about it a different way.

"We went to watch the Mangotsfield versus Eastleigh game in the previous round and they do knock the ball around quite well - they are a good footballing team - so we definitely won't underestimate them. We will take it as we do any other game."

Stanton has recently joined Sutton Coldfield Town on loan, but is available for selection for tonight's match and is looking forward to the chance to play on the first team pitch at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

He added: "Playing at the stadium is a different setting and it's under lights and it's one that we don't get to do too much so it's exciting."

Tickets for tonight's game are priced at £5 for adults and £2 for concessions.

Fans can watch the game from the Autovillage Stand and the Paddock. Tickets are available on the turnstiles.
