A positive half time reaction pleased Cheltenham Town boss Michael Duff as he saw his side overcome West Ham United under-21s in the Leasing.com Trophy at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

3-1 down at the interval, a fantastic second half fight-back saw the Robins come out on top with a 4-3 win to keep their participation in this season's competition very much alive.

A final group game against Newport County AFC awaits now, but Duff praised his charges for how they reacted to the details they were given at half time, which contributed to their second half showing.

"All these young teams can handle a football and move it around. We wanted to win the ball within one pass instead of all coming back together and getting our shape and pressing from there," he said after the match.

"The first goal was offside and we had quite a few chances so I think 3-1 wasn't quite the right score-line anyway.

"We knew we'd get opportunities if we did things properly and we could have gone and scored quite a few more in the second half. So pleased overall."

The Robins now have to wait until Saturday 19 October for the club's next action when the opponents are Walsall at their Banks' Stadium home.

Tickets and away travel for that game are on sale from the ticket office.
