Hussey agrees to extend his stay at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium

28 October 2019

Chris Hussey has become the latest player in the Cheltenham Town squad to extend his contract at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

The left wing back has penned a new deal that will see him continue to wear the red and white of the Robins until the summer of 2021.

Arriving at the club in May 2018 on an initial two-year deal, Hussey has made 47 League Two appearances for Cheltenham, also making an additional six cup appearances.

His new deal follows the news that captain Ben Tozer had secured his future at the club last week, joining Sean Long and George Lloyd in committing long-term to Michael Duff’s set-up.

On Hussey signing his new deal Duff said: “In my opinion he is the best left back in the league. We know what he gives us. He’s a good defender but he helps us with his quality and delivery going forward. All you have to do is look at his number of assists already from dead balls and open play.

“He has a positive influence in the dressing room and is a good professional. He’s an excellent trainer and trains every day like it’s his last. He works on his deficiencies and does plenty of extras.”

Hussey will be available for Saturday’s game with Forest Green Rovers at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

Tickets are on sale online for the match with fourth place FGR, while they are also available to buy from the ticket office in person or on the phone this week on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
