Reaction: Addai on Swindon Town

10 November 2019

Alex Addai's goal on 92 minutes, just 11 seconds after the restart from Swindon Town's Jerry Yates thought to be match winning goal, ensured Cheltenham Town's FA Cup interest continues this season.

Addai came off the bench and drove in through a crowded penalty area to force the Robins first round tie with fellow League Two side Swindon into a replay.

Michael Duff's men had their backs against the wall for much of the afternoon, but Addai's late finish means the two teams will meet again at the County Ground on Tuesday 19 November, with both sides also in the second round draw on Monday evening.

"Upon reflection everyone is in there saying we didn't lose so hopefully we can a start a run now and go unbeaten," Addai said post-match.

"The positive is that we didn't lose at the end of the day. Arguably you could have said that last year we would have lost that game.

"It shows the progression amongst the group over the last 12 months - long may it continue.

"We fought right until the final whistle and we probably could have nicked it at the end.

"We had a lot of momentum towards the end. I think the goal gave everyone a huge lift and Conor [Thomas] had a great chance at the end - it would have been a different game had that gone in."

Next up for Addai and his Cheltenham teammates is the final Leasing.com Trophy group stage game against Newport County AFC on Tuesday night at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

Kick-off is at 7.45pm against the Welsh outfit and tickets are available on the turnstiles on the night, as well as in advance online.
