Haynes on the under-18s FA Youth Cup tie with Portsmouth

13 November 2019

Under-18s manager Pete Haynes has praised the focus of his group of players ahead of their FA Youth Cup second round tie with Portsmouth at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium this evening.

The under-18s take on their EFL Youth Alliance counterparts with a place in the third round at stake and a eye-catching opportunity to take on Premier League side Arsenal.

Kick-off this evening is at 7pm under the lights and admission is £5 for adults and £2 for concessions.

The under-18s have already beaten Eastleigh in the first round to reach this stage and are now looking forward to taking on their fellow under-18s at Portsmouth this evening.

"It is a team that we do know well but to be playing at home in the FA Youth Cup in the evening is always an exciting game," Haynes said.

"To get through the Eastleigh fixture in the first round was a good confidence boost for the players.

"There is a very good focus in the group - maybe more than excitement it is more focus and determination.

"A lot of them want to prove how well they can do and how well they can perform."

The young Robins would appreciate your support tonight as they look to earn a place in the third round in what's sure to be a good clash between two young sides.
