29 November 2019

Two Cheltenham Town second year scholars have joined Southern League South Division One side Evesham United on loan.

Forward Aaron Basford and midfielder Tom Chamberlain are heading out to the Jubilee Stadium outfit to gain senior match experience.

Both had short loan stays at Worcester City last season but they now link up with an Evesham side who are 5th and in the play-off places as they seek promotion once again to the Southern Premier Central.

The duo played their part in the recent FA Youth Cup 8-4 win over Portsmouth which has set up a third round tie against Arsenal in December.

They could be set to make their debuts when Evesham travel south to Hampshire tomorrow to take on AFC Totton.

Goalkeeper Freddie Lapworth has also recently headed out on loan, signing for Southern League Division One Central North Leigh.

It brings the total number of second year scholars out on loan to six:

  • Isaac Lawrence at Tuffley Rovers
  • Grant Horton at Yate Town
  • Charlie Stanton at Sutton Coldfield Town
  • Freddie Lapworth at North Leigh
  • Aaron Basford at Evesham United
  • Tom Chamberlain at Evesham United

On Saturday morning the under-18s are in EFL Youth Alliance action at The Energy Check Training Ground as they take on Oxford United.

Kick-off is at 11am and admission is free for supporters wanting to watch the youngsters in action ahead of Saturday afternoon's FA Cup second round tie with Port Vale.
