It's been a long journey through the Cheltenham Town youth academy system for newly signed professional Archie Brennan, but the talented youngster is looking forward to getting going in his first full season as a pro at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium in the 2019/20 campaign.
The 18-year-old signed his first pro deal with the club on Friday afternoon having spent just under a decade in the youth set-up with the Robins.
It's an exciting step in the midfielders football journey, having already spent time out on loan at Lydney Town and Slimbridge this season, and he's thrilled his years of learning in the club's academy have led to a first team opportunity.
"You never think it's going to happen when you're at that age, but I'm just excited that it has happened," he said. "It doesn't really feel real to be honest - I just can't wait for it to start.
"The gaffer said it'll be a lot harder now. He said if you go on loan or if you are with the first team try to make an impression and make an impression in pre-season. That's what I've got to try and do.
"There's a lot of people that help you get to this point - schools, coaches, scouts who get you here and then Pete [Haynes] and Antoine [Thompson] mainly in the last few years. It's good for them as well as me."
