With this season now finished, the preparation for next season has already started and Cheltenham Town have announced a price cut for season tickets in 2019/20. Club top scorer Luke Varney led the charge of players signing new contracts with the Robins ahead of the next campaign and before Saturday's final league game at Stevenage the forward had a message for supporters, which was sent to existing season ticket holders via email. Here is what he had to say.
Hello,
I’m very happy to have committed my future to Cheltenham Town, it’s fair to say that I have enjoyed my football and the progress that we have made as a club over the last few months has been brilliant on and off the pitch.
The supporters have been great to me personally with their chanting and with the group as a whole. It was an honour to receive so many awards including Player of the Year so I can’t thank those who voted for me enough.
We finished the season at home so well and the fans have played a huge part in our success there and can do again next year, along with our growing strong mentality in the group.
We want to keep going in the right direction. I’ve been at a few clubs in my career and momentum is so important when it comes to success. When the fans, staff, players and the whole club buy into something it really helps drive things forward.
There’s a strong community feel here, I saw that first hand out on a school visit a few months ago and the children were very excited. The under-16 season ticket offer that the club have put forward is really good for kids and will hopefully encourage more families to come and watch us.
Once again I would like to thank all of our supporters for getting behind us this season. There’s something special happening with the Gaffer and everyone around the club, there’s a real buzz.
