Reaction: Waters on Crewe win

31 March 2019

Billy Waters came off the bench to score a goal and set up Luke Varney's late second half finish in Cheltenham's 3-1 win over his former club Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.

The Northampton Town loanee made quite an impact in the second half against his former employers on his return to Gresty Road.

His contribution was vital in helping Michael Duff's side pick up a good three points on the road, which has taken the Robins up to 16th place with six matches to go.

"I thought we were good today at times," he said after the game. "I thought they were good to be fair and played it around well. The red card obviously changed the game.

"At the end of the day a win is a win and we've come away from home, which we've not been great at recently, and got a win.

"There are always going to be emotions involved with the club that released you at 20-years-old. It's always going to be one of them that you're buzzing to score against. I think I was more in shock that I scored a header to be honest with you in the six yards box! It was a combination of shock and happiness."

The Robins will be hoping to make it three wins on the bounce when Exeter City are the visitors to the Jonny-Rocks Stadium next on Saturday.

Kick-off against the Grecians is at 3pm and tickets are available to buy online here or from the ticket office on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 10am and 3pm.
