Reaction: Duff on Newport County

15 March 2019

Robins boss Michael Duff believed his team deserved more from another tight away performance at Rodney Parade on Friday night.

A second half own goal proved to be the difference in south Wales as Newport County clinched all three points over his side.

Will Boyle was also red carded in the second period, while Duff believed his team did their best to cope on a difficult surface in wet conditions.

"We've got to weather a storm better than that. That's the only frustration really. Other than that I thought it was a good away performance," Duff said.

"I thought we dealt with the conditions - there's no point trying to play on that pitch - it's a rugby pitch.

"I thought we handled it well. They changed the shape at half time and we just didn't quite weather the storm well enough.

"It's a disappointing goal because it's a dead ball and they've had another one-on-one, but that's another of our mistakes."
