Ladies: Almondsbury win books final place

18 March 2019

Cheltenham Town Ladies will contest the Gloucestershire FA Women's Trophy final after winning 4-2 in the semi-finals at Almondsbury on Sunday.

Two goals in either half proved to be the difference for Alex Cheal's side against an Almondsbury team from the South West Women's League Eastern Division.

From as early as the third minute the Robins went ahead, and they doubled their lead midway through the half when top goal scorer Annie Martin (pictured) finished off an Ella Hitchcox assist.

Hitchcox then hit the post in search of a third, but it was the hosts who halved the deficit minutes later to go in 2-1 down at the break after Emma Summerill scored.

It was all square in the opening minute of the second half as Almondsbury fought back to level through Jamie-Leigh Worlock.

However Kayleigh Hateley ensured the Robins would retake the lead just past the hour mark, and Martin wrapped up the win with her second of the game to secure her teams safe passage to the final late on.

The Ladies will now take on Frampton Rangers in the final next month.

Next up this Sunday is a trip to second place Southampton Womens as the Ladies return to FA Women's Premier League South West Division One action.
