Reuben Reid has declared himself excited by the challenge that is laying in wait at Cheltenham Town having signed for the Robins on a free transfer.

The highly rated forward has penned a one-year deal at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium, with the option to sign for a second year, dependent on the number of appearances he makes for Michael Duff's side.

He moves to Cheltenham from fellow Gloucestershire outift Forest Green after a career that has taken in spells with the likes of West Bromwich Albion, Rotherham United, Brentford and Plymouth Argyle.

Speaking for the first time, the 30-year-old has declared his excitement at signing a contract at the Jonny-Rocks, and can't wait to get things going.

"As always with coming to somewhere new I'm quite excited," he said. "I want to get the boots on as it were and join in with the new lads. I've met all the coaching staff and I'm generally excited that it's another new challenge in my career.

"At this level I have been a competent goal scorer for the last few years. I've sort of been up there with a nucleus or batch of players who have scored the most goals at this level and I'm right up there with a couple of others over a sustained period of time.

"In terms of general play I like to take the ball in and always show for the ball, score goals, assist and generally just lead the line well and be a threat on the pitch.

"I'll be one of the older lads in the changing room. I think I'm always someone that lads can turn to and I'm easy to talk to. I'm willing to help and I'll be pretty much a team man - so whenever the team is doing well everyone is enjoying things."
