Robins secure deadline day signing

31 January 2019

Cheltenham Town have secured the deadline day signing of Rakish Bingham on a contract until the end of the season, subject to international clearance.

The 25-year-old forward signs as a free agent having departed Scottish Premier League side Hamilton Academical on Wednesday.

A former trialist at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium, in signing he becomes the Robins fifth recruit this month, following Jordan Tillson’s loan from Exeter City on Tuesday and the previous arrivals of Cameron Pring, Billy Waters and Charlie Raglan.

A natural finisher who likes to run with the ball and in behind opposition defences, he has struck 16 goals in all competitions in the last two-and-a-half years over the border with Hamilton, including strikes against the likes of Celtic and Hearts.

Previously he started his career with Wigan Athletic where he was loaned out to the Scottish Championship with Falkirk before returning to England to make a permanent move to Mansfield Town where he worked with current Robins Head of Recruitment, Micky Moore.

He would go onto have a brief loan at Hartlepool United, where he found the net in a 2-0 January 2015 win over Cheltenham, and then signed for the Monkey Hangers permanently. After a season-long stay he returned to Scotland in the summer of 2016, signing for Hamilton.

He’ll now link up with a Robins front line that features Luke Varney, Tyrone Barnett, Billy Waters, Alex Addai and Manny Duku, with fellow front men Liam McAlinden and George Lloyd currently out on loan at National League North clubs.

Be the first to sponsor the Robins final January arrival for only £75 for the remainder of the season. Get in touch with Commercial Manager John Finnigan on 01242 573558 or by emailing john.finnigan@ctfc.com to find out more.
