Reaction: Duff on Carlisle United

19 January 2019

Apologies, this video is unvailable.

After seeing his side concede two early second half goals, Michael Duff was disappointed with the nature of the goals his side gave away in the Robins 2-0 defeat at high flying Carlisle United.

All level at the break after an even first half, goals from Jamie Devitt and Hallam Hope earned the Cumbrians all three points, as Carlisle earned a seventh win in their last eight games.

Speaking to the media post-match, Duff felt his charges mentality when both defending their own box and attacking the oppositions, needs to improve.

"We had as many chances to score as they did - they took their chances, we didn't take ours. I don't think there was anything in the game particularly," Duff said.

"We quietened them down and tried to play a little bit more direct than we have done recently.

"You can't give away goals like we did. I thought we were excellent when we were 2-0 down but it's easy when you're 2-0 down. The mentality of the group we've got you've got to be tougher in both boxes."

Next up for the Robins, it's a home encounter with Macclesfield Town at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium next Saturday.
