Preview: Duff on Macclesfield

24 January 2019

Ahead of Saturday's huge fixture with Macclesfield Town at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium, manager Michael Duff has highlighted that the Silkmen are a different proposition to the side the Robins faced in the opening month of the season.

Under the management of former Arsenal and England defender Sol Campbell Macclesfield have picked up in the past few weeks since he was appointed to the role.

Last season's National League champions have struggled initially back in the Football League this term, but have been growing in form and pose a tricky challenge on Saturday in a 21st against 23rd clash.

"They are on a good run," Duff said in his pre-match press conference. "Sol has gone in and done a good job. I think they've taken 14 points from the last eight games - so in the form table they are sixth or seventh in the form table.

"He's definitely got them going, hard working, pressing, organised and the two centre forwards have started scoring goals and look a handful.

"It isn't the Macclesfield that was in the first three months of the season where they couldn't buy a win, they're on form now and picking up points all over the place."
