Ladies: 2019 off to a great start

14 January 2019

Cheltenham Town Ladies got 2019 underway with an excellent away win at Maidenhead United Ladies on Sunday.

The Robins sit third in the FA Women's National League Division One South West table as they returned from their winter break with three points.

Issy Newns opened the scoring midway through the first half, securing her first goal for the club.

It was 2-0 just before the hour mark for Alex Cheal's side when Ellie Briscoe struck.

The final goal came quarter of an hour before the end when leading goal scorer Annie Martin notched her 20th of the campaign to continue her goal scoring form into the New Year.

The Ladies are next in action with another away trip next Sunday at Buckland Athletic in Devon.

Elsewhere, the Ladies Development side lost out in a second against third clash in the South West Women's Football League Eastern Division.

Gabby Menghini's goal proved to be the difference for winners Frampton Rangers Ladies in a fixture played at the Gloucestershire FA headquarters at Oaklands Park.
