Luke Varney notched his ninth goal of the season and helped the Robins to all three points over Yeovil Town on Tuesday night.
The experienced strikers fine second half finish proved to be the difference at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium, as Michael Duff's charges claimed a 1-0 win.
Varney's goals have been crucial since his arrival in September, with five of them coming in games that ended up as Cheltenham victories, and he was happy to see another strike contribute to maximum points on Tuesday evening.
"I think it shows a bit of character," Varney said after the game. "We've won ugly for once I suppose. If you're being honest we've had some good performances at home where we've deserved to win.
"Sometimes when you win like that and come off the pitch with a gritty performance, it wasn't our free flowing stuff that we're used to, but we are in there with three points and it bridges a bit of a gap again so we are delighted."
