Michael Duff felt his Cheltenham Town side produced a much improved performance on last week's defeat at Colchester in Saturday's 1-0 loss at Grimsby.
The Robins boss saw his side go down at Blundell Park to a late first half penalty from former Cheltenham forward Wes Thomas.
It was a rare major moment in an otherwise quiet affair that saw Duff make three changes to last week's starting XI.
"If I'm brutally honest I thought it was a poor game," Duff said. "I thought it was a 0-0 game all over. Neither 'keeper has made a save and I'm not quite sure how [Chris] Hussey's free kick hasn't gone in to be honest.
"We had a couple of moments but I can't question the players endeavour, I can maybe question the quality in the top third a little bit, but off the back of last week it was a much better performance."

Next up for the Robins is the visit of Cambridge United to the Jonny-Rocks Stadium on Tuesday evening. Kick-off is at 7.45pm against the U's and tickets can be bought in advance online here.
