Preview: Duff on Colchester

7 February 2019

Well aware of the threat Saturday's opponents Colchester United carry, Michael Duff is aiming for his side to snap up a possible opportunity to pull further away from the League Two drop zone this weekend.

His side head to Essex boosted by Tuesday's second consecutive home win over Yeovil Town.

That victory against the Glovers has helped increase the gap between the Robins and the relegation places. So with the confidence of that victory the man in the dugout is seeing Saturday as a chance to go to promotion chasing Colchester and steal something from what is expected to be a tough outing.

"They are on a really good run, it's tailed off a little bit, so they'll be looking to get back in the play-off mix and cement themselves in those play-offs," Duff said at the club's press conference on Thursday at the Energy Check Seasons Training Ground.

"They've just come off a 3-0 win at Northampton so it's going to be a difficult game.

"It's a long way to go - they are at home, we're away, they're near the top and we're near the bottom. So form says it will be a difficult game.

"It's an opportunity for us to go and improve our position in the league. We've got that eight point buffer but we had that before and it went down quickly, so we're still aware that we need to keep going - it's up to the players to deliver a performance that will shoot us higher up the league."
