Preview: Dawson on Port Vale

21 February 2019

Irishman Kevin Dawson has highlighted Cheltenham Town's strong home form ahead of the visit of Port Vale to the Jonny-Rocks Stadium on Saturday.

The midfielder picked up the Player of the Match award for his performance on Tuesday against Cambridge United as the Robins ran out 2-0 winners and moved nine points clear of the League Two relegation zone.

He's hoping the Robins strength on home turf will bear fruit again this Saturday, as Michael Duff's side host another important game when 21st place Port Vale come to town.

"We were in a rut and things weren't great but the gaffer has come in and turned it right round," Dawson said. "We've been hovering and have been up and down, but hopefully this time we can build and kick on - that's the hope.

"The form has been good at home. I think it's only one defeat in 13 or 14 games at home with quite a large number of wins as well. It's definitely something we know about and we're aware about and something we need to implement again and get another win Saturday.

"I've been playing in the midfield three so there's a bit more of a license to get about rather than being restricted out wide. I've been enjoying my football and hopefully it can continue."
