Preview: Clements on Grimsby

15 February 2019

Chris Clements returns to his former club in a Cheltenham Town shirt on Saturday looking to be part of a Robins side that are chasing a league double over the Mariners.

The 28-year-old made 16 appearances for Saturday's opponents Grimsby after signing in January 2017, finding the back of the net on four occasions in that time, but spent the entireity of the 2017-18 campaign on loan at Barrow in the National League and at Forest Green.

He admits facing up to your old team provides a different feeling on the pitch but that the focus is fully on helping his current employers continue their push up the League Two table.

"Games are different when you're playing against your old team," he said. "I think you want to win that slightly bit more, but it's the same incentive for us, three points are there for us to get.

"It's a game we need to get three points from, no matter who it is against. The fact it is against my old club means nothing.

"They are on a good run at the minute, getting some decent results and playing some decent football, so it's going to be difficult up there but I think we can do a job."
