Will Boyle sees Cheltenham's FA Cup second round defeat to Port Vale as an opportunity missed as a poor second half performance allowed the visitors to claim their place in the third round.

Leading at the break thanks to Reuben Reid's early penalty, the Robins performed poorly after the break - allowing Vale front man Tom Pope to net an eight minute hat-trick which sealed their place in Monday evening's draw.

Boyle was making his second consecutive appearance after returning to the side at Grimsby Town on Tuesday evening in a 0-0 draw at Blundell Park and was left frustrated by how events unfolded on Saturday afternoon when he spoke to the media after the game.

"At home we've been doing well. 1-0 up at half time so a hundred per cent it's an opportunity missed," he said.

"We had a couple of good opportunites. We worked our way to good areas of the pitch where we could have been a bit more clinical at times.

"That happens - people miss chances. The positive was we were working our way into those areas.

"We've come out and conceded three so that's disappointing."
