Under 18s: Held by Plymouth Argyle

27 August 2019

The Cheltenham Town under-18s side were held to a 2-2 draw by their counterparts from Plymouth Argle at the Energy Check Training Ground on Saturday morning.

In their latest EFL Youth Alliance fixture, Pete Haynes' side saw goals from Aaron Evans-Harriott (pictured) and Charlie Dashfield see them pick up their first point of the campaign.

Commenting on his team's latest performance Haynes said: "It was another really encouraging performance from a young side. The score line the players will feel doesn't reflect their performances as the goals we conceded are easily avoidable and the team created far and away enough chances to have the game won.

"However the team played very well and it is great to see the players continue to learn and develop after a very tough pre-season.

"They're continuing to play in a way that will develop them into good footballers, it's just a case of being more ruthless in the attacking third and taking more pride in defending as a team."

Elsewhere in the Academy set-up at the club, the under-12s and under-13s sides celebrated pre-season tournament victories last week in competitions that included Birmingham City, Bristol City and Swindon Town as opponents.

On Wednesday the under-18s will travel to Luton Town for an EFL Youth Alliance Cup fixture that kicks off at 1pm.
