Reaction: Hussey on Swindon Town

25 August 2019

Chris Hussey's second start of the new League Two season proved to be a busy one against his former club Swindon Town.

The 30-year-old scored Cheltenham's first goal, set up Luke Varney's finish just before half time and was named Player of the Match by match sponsors RLR Burge roofing.

Having struggled for fitness since returning to pre-season training it was a noteworthy performance from the former Sheffield United man, who was lining up against a Swindon outfit he had a loan spell with during the 2017/18 season.

"At home we've been brilliant," Hussey said post-match. "I think we've gone unbeaten for a very long time and word gets around now.

"It was a difficult day - it was hot - that was the same for both teams. But at the end we had them on the ropes.

"If you want to do well you've got to have that sort of form at home.

"I think they'll be right up there [Swindon], if not getting promoted. You can see how they play and they're good at what they do but we more than matched them."
